About the Artist

Aunie was born in Huhhot, China in 1986.  Her name means "exotic down-to earth girl". She spent her early childhood in Yantai with her great-grandmother.  Aunie came to the U.S. at the age of 6 to be with her mother who soon enrolled Aunie in piano and ballet classes. Add Chinese school, traditional Chinese fan and ribbon dance, swimming, singing, painting, Kung Fu, and  theater classes to the schedule and BAM! ya got a whole lot of "Busy Kid Growing Up".

Aunie attended LaGuardia H.S. of Performing Arts (FAME H.S.) at Lincoln Center, NYC. After graduating a year ahead of her class, Aunie accepted a scholarship from Temple University and decided to pursue a BFA in Dance.  After two semesters she decided to move back to NYC after being offered the opportunity to develop her professional dance career.  She performed with Rika Oriental Ballet Company, American Theatre Dance Company, as well as Eglevsky Ballet Company.

Aunie decided to move to Scranton, PA after accepting a scholarship from Marywood University.  After changing her major to Graphic Design, Aunie studied abroad in Venice, Italy.  Her work is also influenced by her travels to Costa Rica, Japan, and China. She served as President of Kappa Pi International Art Honor Society-Zeta Omicron Chapter for two years. Aunie received her BFA in Graphic Design from Marywood University in 2009.

Aunie is currently a Graphic Designer at Media Star Promotions in Baltimore, MD.  She is also a part-time Yoga Instructor, Muralist, Bellydancer,  Piano Teacher, Dance Instructor, and Plumber (just kidding on the last one). Aunie now resides in Baltimore, MD with her Jack Russell Picasso.
